A Merry Marlo Christmas

Marlo's Matcha Taipei Christmas Pop-up

This past weekend, we hosted a pop-up event in Taipei at TROPO, alongside our very first workshop and a matcha rave, in collaboration with two other female-founded brands, Yu Bar and Ryden Rue, with the entire experience designed by Marlo Studios.

It was a weekend filled with matcha and love 🍵 We were so overwhelmed by the support. It truly felt like Christmas came early.

These events never start on the day itself. They start weeks before, with planning, organising, designing, and way too many LINE messages. Coordinating closely with our collaborators, creating custom stickers, promotions, menus, and collaborative content, and designing everything from scratch. We made multiple visits to TROPO to make sure every detail felt just right for the weekend.

Saturday began early with a matcha workshop, where we shared how to make the perfect matcha latte, along with knowledge about matcha powder and the tools that go with it. Everyone chatted, got to know one another, and left with a wagashi, a sweet treat to end the morning. It was an intimate start to the day, filled with conversations and shared love for matcha.

Then, the chaos began.

The moment 11am hit, people were already lining up and ordering matcha lattes, strawberry matcha, and even red matcha. Some came because they saw a Threads post, some were curious to try strawberry matcha, which is surprisingly rare in Taiwan, and others simply wanted a place to sit, chat, and hang out. We had the chance to talk with so many people throughout the day.

By the time the afternoon rolled around and the matcha rave kicked off at 3pm, the space was packed. It genuinely felt like one big party. We ran out of ice, sold out of strawberry matcha lattes, and even ran out of cups with stickers, which we had to restock right in the middle of the rave.

Thankfully, we got to do it all again the next day.

Sunday started off calmer and more relaxed, but as lunchtime approached, people began showing up again. A whole new crowd, just as excited and supportive of matcha. By the end of the day, we had completely sold out of matcha powder.

Let’s just say we were not prepared for that level of love. 💚

This weekend reminded us of the power of collaboration. Bringing communities together, introducing our brands to each other’s friends, families, and wider circles, and building something meaningful through shared energy and creativity.

Until next time, Taipei.
