Inspired by the pixel, the building block of digital creativity, our branding nods to Pacman, old-school games, and the joy of creating without rules. It’s a portal back to when we were all artists, freely drawing, building, imagining—before creativity came with conditions.

Marlo’s Matcha is a reminder to go back. Back to that playful version of yourself. Back to curiosity. Back to limitless imagination. Every tin of matcha is a celebration of your inner child, the one who still lives inside you, quietly waiting for a chance to come out and play.

We believe drinking matcha can be a ritual of creativity. A spark. A moment of pause that reconnects you to the parts of yourself you’ve forgotten.

Origins from Tokyo, Japan

Marlo Studios was born in Tokyo in 2022 as a creative and design studio, building thoughtful brands through strategy, design and creativity. But our story with matcha and design started even earlier.

In 2019, Freya first connected with Japanese tea culture while interning at a Korean & Japanese restaurant and café, doing design and photography work. From that moment, matcha and design became constants in our lives.

After designing over 100 brands for other people, we felt ready to create something of our own. Here it is: Marlo’s Matcha, our studio’s baby, born from our love for design and passion for matcha.

Freya is now based in Tokyo, while Jasmine is in the UK pursuing her Master’s degree. That’s why the UK felt like a natural first home for Marlo’s Matcha, made in Japan, felt everywhere. Welcome to Marlo’s world. No passport required.
