Saya Matcha さや抹茶
Saya Matcha さや抹茶
First harvest matcha from Saitama Prefecture.
Its origin is part of what makes our Saya Matcha special. The tea farm is based in Tokyo, with some tea fields crossing into Iruma in Saitama Prefecture. Grown near Japan’s northern tea-growing limit, the tea plants experience colder winters than many better-known matcha regions. Sayama-area teas are known for their thicker leaves, developed to withstand harsher winters, a regional characteristic often associated with a richer, fuller-bodied cup.
Saya features the cultivar Hokumei(北茗), which means “north tea,” known for its cold resistance and distinctive aroma, Hokumei gives Saya its expressive fragrance and rich umami.
Saya works especially well with milk or alternative milks, its bold, umami-rich flavour comes through beautifully, giving you a cup that’s creamy and still deeply matcha-forward.
